Joey Ladouceur Looking for Big Results With This Weekend With DIRTcar Sportsman Events at Brighton Speedway and Le RPM Speedway

With other commitments this year, Joey Ladouceur has not run the full DIRTcar Sportsman schedule in 2014, but has followed the tour whenever possible. After a disappointing 17th place finish at MIR this past weekend, Ladouceur now looks ahead to upcoming events this weekend, beginning on Friday night at Brighton Speedway, and on to Le RPM Speedway in St. Marcel, Quebec on Saturday.

Ladouceur will return to Brighton Speedway on Friday night for only the second time in his career. In 2013, while leading the DIRTcar Sportsman standings as a rookie, Joey’s night ended early after a lapped car clipped one of the infield tires, sending it onto the track and into the path of Joey’s car, causing extensive front end damage. While the circumstances are different this year, Ladouceur hopes that this year’s trip to Brighton will be a little more forthcoming.

Saturday night’s destination is Le RPM Speedway, located in St. Marcel, Quebec. This will be Joey’s first time in competition in a Sportsman, as last year’s event was rained out. Joey does have some experience at the track, competing in the Pro Stock division.

After this weekend’s events, Ladouceur will get ready for Super DIRT Week events at Weedsport Speedway and the New York State Fairgrounds. The 2014 season will end at Brockville Speedway on October 18th for the 1000 Islands RV DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals.

Joey Ladouceur would like to thank all of the sponsors that help support the team for the 2014 racing season. Coffrage 20-20/Pompage 20-20, Fence Depot, Minimax Express, Glengarry Truck Centre, Gauvreau Terre de Surface, Mr. Radiator, Number One Speed Shock Service, Boucherie du Village and Finish Line Web Design are all an integral part of the Ladouceur team and they look forward to sharing their success with all of you in the future.

The race was slowed by a couple cautions early, and Currier was able to grab the lead after restarting second on lap 7. Currier held off any challenges and went on to score his second win of the season at I-88 Speedway and claimed the fifth position in the point standings.

“We had a great night tonight. It feels good to get back to Victory Lane”, said Currier after the race. “We have had a good season, and we will continue to work hard and hopefully we can build some momentum going into these upcoming big events”.

Billy Dunn Dominates DIRTcar 358 Series Race at Mohawk International Raceway; Top Five Finish in Super DIRTcar Series Race at Mohawk

Over the past three seasons, Billy Dunn has been virtually perfect at Mohawk International Raceway in the 358 Modified division. He has been the track champion in each of those three seasons and has accumulated 15 feature wins over that stretch at MIR alone. He was back at MIR this weekend for the Mohawk Nationals Weekend, and returned to the Laurent Ladouceur owned #23 on Friday night in the DIRTcar 358 Modified Series and was in his own Number One Speed sponsored car on Saturday night for the Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series.

On Friday night, Dunn started the night off with a win in the qualifying heat race, earning a spot in the redraw for a top 12 starting position in the 75 lap main event. Dunn would draw position number six and stared the race from outside of the third row. By lap 10, Dunn had worked his way into the top three and with 20 laps on the board he made his move for the lead. Dunn held the top spot at lap 20 as the first and only caution of the race came out. On the restart Dunn continued where he left off and before long he was working through lapped traffic with ease. Dunn had well over a straightway lead over second place as they hit lap 50 and extended that lead over the final 25 laps to score the victory.

"We've just been really good here all year. We've really hit on a package that, when the track gets slick here, our car really comes to life," said Dunn from Victory Lane. "I was a little worried when we started the race, I thought the track wasn't going to come to us, but right around lap 20 it did. I knew if I could at least get to the front, I would have a good shot at winning. It was an awesome race. We didn't really start where we wanted to, but we just picked our way on through and had a really good car that could go wherever we needed it to. Luckily, there weren't a lot of cautions, and we just cruised to the win."

Saturday was a challenging day at MIR as Dunn and his Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series competitors waited out Mother Nature for an opportunity to get the program in. Finally, by 11PM cars were on the track, and DIRTcar Series officials elected to do away with the traditional time trials and heats in favor of a feature lineup based on point standings. Since Dunn had missed a few races in the Series, he would have to start from the 14th position. Dunn exercised patience early in the race, and was sitting inside the top ten at lap 25. Dunn continued to work his way forward and would battle to a top five finish by the time they reached lap 100.

Dunn will be back in action this coming weekend at Fonda Speedway as they host the Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series. From there, the team will focus their efforts on returning to Super DIRT Week in hopes of repeating last year’s spectacular performance.

Billy Dunn would like to thank Number One Speed, FastLube of Watertown, Finger Lakes Auto Machine, Glen A. Gould Estate Construction, Frosty’s Ice Cream, and Bicknell Racing Products for their continued support for the 2014 racing season. He would also like to thank Laurent Ladouceur and the Mr. Radiator Race team for the opportunity to race their 358 Modified at Mohawk Raceway on Friday nights again this season.
