Ryan Arbuthnot Has Impressive Weekend with 2nd Place Finish at Brockville and Top Five at Mohawk International Raceway

After a busy weekend last week following the DIRTcar 358 Modified tour, Ryan Arbuthnot returned to his weekly tracks this past week looking to continue his successful sophomore season. His weekend schedule consisted of a 50 lap Frenchie’s “Chevy Runs Deep” Series race at Mohawk Raceway on Friday night and another 50 lap event at Brockville Speedway on Saturday with round two of the Ogilvie’s Auto Triple Crown Series.

At Mohawk Raceway, a draw coming through the pit gates determined the lineup for the qualifying heat races. Ryan started from the sixth position and advanced two spots to make the redraw for a top 12 starting spot in the main event. After the random draw, Arbuthnot started from the outside of row three in the sixth position and maintained that spot for the first half of the race. By lap 30 Ryan was challenging for a top five position, and that battled continued to the finish, as he crossed the finish line with a solid fifth place result.

The Arbuthnot Racing team returned to Brockville Speedway on Saturday night looking for another strong finish. It was round two of the Ogilvie’s Triple Crown Series with a timed hot lap session determining starting positions for the qualifying heat races. Ryan was second fastest in his group, and backed that up with a second place finish in his qualifying heat race. In the 50 lap main event, Arbuthnot started from the sixth position and was up to fourth as they completed lap number 10. By the time they reached the halfway point of the event, Ryan was in third place, and continued in that position until moving to second on the final lap of the caution-free race.

“The car was awesome tonight”, says Arbuthnot. “It was a lot of fun out there tonight. “The only way it could have been better if that last lap pass was for first instead of second, but all in all it was a great night”.

Arbuthnot is currently seventh in both the regular track points at Mohawk Raceway as well as the Frenchie’s Series after round two of three. At Brockville Speedway, Ryan is 3rd overall in track points and is also third in the Ogilvie’s Triple Crown Series. On the DIRTcar tour, Ryan is 7th in points. Ryan will return to both Mohawk Raceway and Brockville Speedway this weekend looking to improve on these numbers, and try and get their first win of the 2014 season. Steve Arbuthnot will also be back in action at Brockville in the Vintage Modified.
